The calculated risk taken on 23 January 1963, has paid off. And nothing can stop us.

On that date I saw that when the gun-waving Federal Marshals stormed the Church in Washington, we were in for a series of raids and enturbulent actions by governments.

Therefore, as the officers of the various areas can tell you, I ordered them to fight a delaying action while I completed the research.

The strategy was this — the only thing which would ultimately win for us was total technology. If I interrupted research to swat flies, we might lose. Therefore I handed over most of the defense to others and speeded up research.

This was somewhat like seeing the Indians in the distance and instead of readying a barricade, going on inventing a new weapon on the gamble that you would have completed the job before the first brave got to you.

Well, “we done it”. Melbourne fell. DC barely held on. Even Saint Hill got its whiff of grape. All orgs were hammered. But staffs stood up splendidly. And the research was completed.

By working 18 hours a day on research and the rest on administrative matters, by August of 1965 I had the full answers to total freedom.

Over a hundred Scientologists were enrolled on the Clearing Course and started toward Clear and Operating Thetan.

In the spring of 1966 the first Clear graduated from that course with many close behind.

And in the nick of time.

This material and these people are scattered all over the planet. Scientology data now couldn’t be isolated and burned by an army of agents.

No matter what happens, Scientology today will keep right on going.

History is about to be written out loud.

The only thing you could do to a Clear or an OT would be to make him laugh. But that isn’t all a Clear could do. I trust you get it.

Well, the calculated risk paid off. The ultimate “weapon” was attained before the shades of night hit the planet, before the Big Bomb went and before suppressive groups totally shackled Mankind.

The ultimate weapon is total freedom. A freedom no benighted beast can send to Auschwitz. A freedom no gestapo can curtail. A freedom that is completely unqualified.

It is a good thing beings are basically good..

Freedom to be free or to strike at will without any fear of retribution could otherwise be rather grim.

The higher the release or clear, the more decent a being gets.

So we made it. In all the eons, apparently only we made it. And whew it was a near thing.

But in the immortal words of Tom Esterbrook ², “there goes the old ball game.” The job is done.
