(Taken from an LRH advice of 23 February 1978 where LRH is commenting on the posting of a List One R/Ser to an executive post, issued as a Flag Order on 8 May 1997.)
The thing people don’t realize about List One R/Sers is that when they’re cleaned up you have somebody whose track training and experience is all involved with overts. He has little or no experience being a good guy. In essence, this is the same problem one would have with a cleared cannibal. A cleared cannibal is a cleared cannibal.
In this particular case, I have no doubt that his List One R/Ses are cleared up, but his education, which is to say, experienced background for billions of years, contains only chopping people up with bad TRs. He simply doesn’t know how to talk to a person without invalidating him as that’s the only way he knows how to talk to anybody.
The advantage is that he is now open to new training which he never was before. He would have to be put through TRs—which he never could have passed before—taught social graces such as saying please and thank you, and opening the door for somebody.
So the probability is that it is a cruelty to clean up a List One R/Ser and then not give him a full PR course, a course in grooming, etiquette and some books to read about nice guys.
The advantage is he is now not plotting one or another’s demise covertly and is not fixedly preventing himself from learning anything.
One would have him read for sure and do some practical on How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. That is the only book I know of that will do him some good.
We will decannibalize the cleared cannibal.
One could even go further with auditing and find some times, if they are there, when he was a nice guy and was successful at it.
I’m writing this so you will understand why it isn’t okay to appoint an ex-L1 R/Ser.
